I ended up just creating a seperate stylesheet for the login page and addin the regular divs from my other pages like discribed above. The critical part was, I think, to get all the tags in the right places, and also you want to remove the reference to the regulare admin css at the top of wp-login.php You also want to remove the "Back to blog" link, cause (at least in my case it messed up teh layout.
